First Baptist Church of Forest Park

As a youth & young adult pastor at First Baptist Church of Forest Park, I found myself always in need of graphics, flyers, logos, and the list goes on. Because of my experience in graphic design, video production, and brand messaging, I was able to fulfill the content demands that often arose in my work and effectively promote events and activities of the church.

Designing for impact

Flyers & Handouts

In designing print flyers for FBC Forest Park, my aim was to share information about the church effectively. A common issue with flyers in the church and ministry context is that designers cram as much information as they possibly can on them. What happens is that people get information overload and disregard it. My aim was to use a few words as possible so that upon a quick glance, the information I wanted to share would be communicated. I used bold colors that captured attention and pictures of people to showcase and elicit a sense of community. In our find purpose, meaning, and community invite cards, I even used a rounded edge to create a nicer feel in the holder’s hand and to add to the feeling of a welcoming invitation.

In a world where 100 billion pieces of junk mail are sent out every year, it is critical to be able to stand out from the noise of other flyers and handouts, and it’s critical to communicate quickly and powerfully.

“Bringing Vision to Life!”

Vynal Wall Designs

In my design work, my projects mostly begin with “I want this…can you do it?” In designing these vinyl walls, my Senior Pastor wanted to add color and interest to our main hallway, museum, sanctuary, and youth room. So crafted designs that would almost brand and give more emphasis to some of the spaces with specific functions. The “mission wall,” for example, is the place where we highlight the work of our overseas missionaries. The leaf wall showcases our “Leaf” announcement board and goes with “the Leaf” newsletter.

These designs were significant because of the great satisfaction I felt from seeing these designs quite literally come to life. This satisfaction of being able to use creativity to amplify or enhance a message truly brings me joy, especially when I hear my pastor say, “Wow! That’s awesome!”
